Thanks again for a very good lesson in Japanese
You Sir, are amazing. I had to subscribe. I’ve just discovered you, and hope by the time I work through each lesson you are able to create more content for the next album. Thank you!
I am really enjoying these videos! 🙂 So “Metal” here is written in Katakana because it is referring to the Metal genre of music, and based on a foreign word. If this is the case, I would imagine the regular Japanese word for metal (as in the substance) in Hiragana is different, correct? Pardon my intense curiosity; I am amazed by the existence of the different character sets. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Thanks to you and BABYMETAL I have been on a long journey learning Japanese (日本語 Nihongo)
I have learned a lot from you and enjoyed your lessons more than you know.
I have learned hiragana and katakana. it was not easier than i thought it would be.
i am Studying JPLT N5.
Now I am learning Kanji every day. Maybe you can help me with this.
Su- signs her name some times like this すずか
This I understand す (Su) ず (zu) か (ka). Hiragana:Suzuka
But some times like this すず香
This I do dot understand す (Su) ず (zu) 香 ( With fragrance kanji )
Wiki has her name listed as 中元 すず香
中( Naka:Kanji) 元 (moto:kanji) す (Su) ず (zu) 香 ( With fragrance kanji )
Here sister also uses the same kanji at the end of her name 香 .
中元 日芽香 Nakamoto Himeka
Hope you can help,
Thank you very much

I figured it out . don’t know why i didn’t see this sooner
中( Naka:Kanji) 元 (moto:kanji) す (Su:hiragana) ず (zu:hiragana) 香 ( ka:kanji )
中元すず香 = Suzuka Nakamoto
香 the Kun reading for this Kanji is (ka, 香) or the HIragana reading is : (Ka, か )
Hope this answer will help someone

このビデオシリーズをありがとう! I am a native English speaker learning English and your series is very helpful. Now, when I listen to BabyMetal I can say I’m studying Japanese ^_^ Actually, I’ve noticed that while some Japanese vocal artists take liberties with Japanese while singing, the Babymetal singers mostly sing in actual conversational Japanese. Having an expert explaining what is going on is a great bonus.
みんなに (To everybody):Here is an idea for people who have iPads or iPhones. If you activate a Japanese keyboard, then click on the microphone, you can dictate in Japanese! Sometimes, the device does not get it right, but if you click on underlined words, you can see alternate choices. If you do not see the right word offered as an alternate, you can see what the device thought you said. I’ve been practicing for a few weeks now and it has really helped.
Thanks again, Duane.
Duane Metal Thank you very much for these videos and the effort you’ve put on them. It was BabyMetal that got me into learning Japanese. ありがとうございます Duane-san.
動画がアップされてからもうすぐ3年ですか。TVでアナウンサーがベイビーメタルと言っているのを聞くと違和感があります。最近は日本ではベビーメタルの発音が優勢になっていると思います。
