Is Japanese Drinking Culture Disappearing?
I’ve lived in Japan for more than 9 months as an exchange student, so normally you’d probably expect some culture shocks in the process of relatively long period but I hadn’t really experienced any strong one I think. Maybe it has to do with me studying East Asian cultures, particularly Japanese, so more or less I knew what to expect and the things weren’t that shocking as it might be to other people. Another reason probably has to do with me as a person, I actually prefer the reserved Japanese way as I’m reserved person too in oppose to some things even in my own western culture. Maybe the only thing I can come up with and it’s not that much of a culture shock but rather a challenge – is making real friends with Japanese people. It does take pretty long time to be considered a real friend by an average Japanese, and also the ‘honne’ and ‘tatemae’ thing is confusing. Sometimes I was having a hard time catching whether they actually mean what they’re saying or they’re just trying to be nice by saying one thing but meaning totally different one just as of means of not hurting your feelings etc. So I’d say you have to read between the lines a lot more than in other cultures. If you can master that then you’re good to go. Luckily, that didn’t get in the way to make a Japanese girlfriend haha.
You put this Spanish cuck in another video and you’ll a subscriber, I promise you that.
yeahh..very nice video…1 thing I feel weird when I was in Japan, I went to a konbini and bought few stuffs, then after paying at the counter I said “ありがとう” and then the staff looked at me in a weird way..hahaha…I wondered why..then later I noticed,Japanese did not say that. They just took their stuff and go off..I mean..I just want to say tq to the staff
This is a very fun video to watch!! thank you for making it!!
